DRUID HILLS — The Flowery Branch girls tennis team took an impressive 3-0 win over Druid Hills on Monday in the first round of the Class 4A state playoffs.
The Lady Falcons lost just one official game and were leading the other two matches when the match was called.
Sandra Hernandez beat Shanti Rodriquez-Pedrazzo 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. The No. 1 doubles team of Ally Shedd and Haley Bursinger won 6-0, 6-1 over Ella Zedd and Katy Burkett and the No. 2 doubles of Richney Nguyen and Violet Shultz beat Sarah Zedd and Shaelen Purdy 6-0, 6-0 for the three wins.
Avery Marx and Katie Martin in singles both were up one set each for the Lady Falcons before their matches were pulled.
Flowery Branch, the No. 3 seed from Region 8-4A, next will travel to Region 4-4A champion West Laurens in the second round. West Laurens received a bye in the first round.
