The first round of the Georgia High School Association state soccer playoffs saw several Northeast Georgia-area teams move on, as expected, with several more crashing into the second round with surprise wins.
The Sweet 16 round gets under way starting on Monday around the area and state with 18 area teams looking to keep their seasons going.
The Class 6A No. 1 Buford girls, Class 5A No. 2 Johnson boys, and the Class 3A No. 3 West Hall boys all took easy wins last week in the opening round. Buford and Johnson will be at home once again. The West Hall boys, the Region 7-3A champs, won their first playoff match since winning the Class 3A state title in 2015. The Spartans will be at home again on Monday taking on Savannah Arts.
The East Forsyth boys in Class 3A won their first-ever postseason match in their first try, knocking off Sandy Creek in the first round. The Broncos take the long trek to Tattnall County in the second round.
Tickets will be $7 for all single playoff games contests, as set by the GHSA, and available only on GoFan sites.
