Gwinnett County public school employees will all receive a bonus

Last month Governor Kemp announced a bonus for some school employees, including teachers. Now Gwinnett County Public Schools are taking that one step further, saying they will ensure all employees get a bonus, not just the ones included in Kemp’s budget.

Gwinnett Superintendent Calvin Watts said that all full-time and part-time employees will receive a bonus, if not from the state, then from the county. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Watts said in a press release that the gesture from the state was much appreciated and they wanted to extend the “thank you” to all of the employees in the district.

Most employees receiving the district’s bonus will get $2,000. Retirees who work part-time in the district will get $980. Employees will receive the one-time payment in their paychecks at the end of April.

Gwinnett County is Georgia’s largest school district in the state with 22,000 employees and 180,000 students.
