FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The East Hall boys' chance to grab the No. 3 seed in the Class 4A playoffs slipped through their fingertips on Thursday at Falcons Field.
The Falcons, however, clinched the No. 3 seed after scoring in double overtime to knock off the Vikings, 1-0, in the final game of the regular season.
In a back-and-forth match, the two teams created several opportunities, but neither could find the next in regulation.
It wasn't until Flowery Branch's Andrew Jiminez lasered a strike from 30 yards out that dipped underneath the crossbar with 5:50 left in double overtime for what turned out to be the game-winning goal.
