COVINGTON — Class 5A No. 1 Johnson just keeps on rolling.
The Knights got goals from five different players and the defense once again smothered the opposing offense in an 8-1 thumping of Eastside on Thursday night on the road.
The win for Johnson (15-0-1, 6-0 Region 8-5A) sets up a one-game showdown with No. 2 Clarke Central (12-1, 6-0 Region 8-5A) next week for the region title at The Dungeon.
Johnson got two goals apiece from Danny Trujillo, Jorge Sandoval, and Ramon Aguilar. Jeffrey Castillo and Abraham Gomez also tallied goals for the Knights.
Jeffrey Castillo also dished out three assists while Sandoval, Aguilar, Edgar Vazquez, and David Arteaga all had one assist on the night.
Kristian Hernandez and the defense have not allowed more than two goals in any region match this season and have allowed just three total goals over the last three matches.
The final week of the regular season will be one of the toughest for the Knights. Before the showdown with the Gladiators, Johnson will travel to Class 5A No. 3 Woodward Academy (11-1) on Monday.
