The Hall County School District has selected Jennifer Parker as Media Specialist of the Year.
Parker is the media specialist at East Hall Middle School. A media specialists’ mission is to promote transliteracy, provide equitable access to a wide variety of materials, partner with teachers and staff and inspire students to be life-long learners and readers according to a Hall County School District press release.
Dr. Jeff Chandler, the principal of East Hall Middle School, said Parker has made a major impact at the school’s media center.
“From day one, Jennifer has been a visionary, helping to support our students through the services provided in the media center,” Chandler said in the press release. “She has made the media center at EHMS the "go to" place for all students."
Kevin Bales, Hall County School District’s assistant superintendent for teaching and learning, also had high praise for Parker.
“Media specialists provide key instructional support to teachers and students in a variety of different ways,” Bales said. “Ms. Parker has certainly earned this recognition and we are grateful for her commitment to East Hall Middle School.”
Parker said she was proud to represent her fellow media specialists.
“Hall County School District media specialists are dedicated, capable, and innovative teacher leaders," Parker said. "I am honored to represent this group.”
