Boys soccer: East Hall holds off Chestatee in 8-4A showdown; GHS snaps losing streak

RABBITTOWN — East Hall got goals from three different players in taking a crucial 3-2 win over Chestatee on Friday night in Region 8-4A action at East Hall Stadium.

The Vikings (6-7-2, 2-2 Region 8-4A) took a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute when David Loza found the back of the net off of a corner kick. It stayed way until early in the second half.

Chestatee (5-7-2, 0-4 Region 8-4A) tied the game at 1 in the 44th minute, but East Hall responded just four minutes later on a Ranferi Lara-Chavez goal for a 2-1 lead. The lead lasted all of 6 minutes, as the War Eagles tied the game at 2 in the 54th minute.

Angel Perez reclaimed the lead yet again for East Hall getting the the go-ahead goal in the 60th minute on a 20 yard blast into the top corner of the goal.

East Hall, which is 6-3 in its last nine games, will play host to Cedar Shoals Tuesday in another region battle.

The Red Elephants snapped a three-match losing streak with a crucial Region 6-7A win at City Park on Friday night.

Gainesville (7-5-0, 2-3 Region 6-7A) trailed 3-0 at halftime but rallied for four second-half goals to pull out the come-from-behind win.

The victory also moved Gainesville to within one-half game of fourth place West Forsyth (6-3-1, 2-2 Region 6-7A) with one region match left against No. 9 Forsyth Central next week. The Red Elephants, however, own the head-to-head tiebreaker over West Forsyth if the two teams finish tied for the final playoff spot.
