1 dead following Gainesville mobile home fire

Authorities have released the name of the man who died in a mobile home fire Thursday night in Gainesville.

B.J. Williams, public information officer with the Hall County Sheriff's Office, said Bobby Ector, 60, was the man who died in the fire on McConnell Drive. 

Williams said there does not appear to be any foul play in the death, but Ector's body has been sent for autopsy to determine his cause of death.

Hall County Fire Rescue is investigating the cause of the fire.

One person died following a mobile home fire Thursday night in Gainesville.

According to a press statement from Hall County Fire Rescue, the victim was located inside the burning mobile home on McConnell Drive. Despite resuscitation efforts by EMS personnel, the victim died shortly after arriving to the Emergency Department at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Crews with Hall County Fire Rescue and the Gainesville Fire Department initially arrived on scene around 11:20 p.m. for a reported mobile home fire. They found the home with smoke showing and were approached by an individual claiming someone could still be inside.

Crews entered the home and found the victim, who was removed and handed over to EMS personnel. The fire was brought under control and extinguished shortly after.

A cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is under investigation by the Hall County Fire Marshal's office.

In addition, the victim's cause of death is still unknown and their identity is not being released at this time.
