Oakwood Police Department hiring police officers

The Oakwood Police Department has released a flyer stating they are currently searching for police officers to expand their mission.

Minimum requirements include:

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and have a valid Georgia license,
  • Georgia POST Certification is preferred. 
  • Applicant must have good driver's history and good criminal history.

Benefits include:

  • Competitive salary, negotiable with experience.
  • Accrued sick leave, eight hours per month.
  • Vacation leave, with 40 hours to start.
  • Dental insurance.
  • Take home vehicle within 30 miles.

Unique benefits:

  • City pays 100% medical insurance.
  • City pays 100% retirement, 90% after 25 years.
  • New vehicle every five years.
  • Comp time allowed, with a 480 hour cap.

According to the flyer, preference will be given to candidates who are already certified as Georgia Law Enforcement Officers, but non-certified candidates are also encouraged to apply.
