Joy Griffin and Matt Dubnik were honored Thursday night as recipients of the 2021 Young Man and Young Woman of the Year awards by the Gainesville Jaycees.

The event was held at the Chattahoochee Country Club, and featured a full crowd, according to 2020 Young Man of the Year winner Nick Bruner. Griffin and Dubnik were both unaware of their award leading up to the event.

Griffin has served as the director of marketing, communications and public relations with Gainesville City Schools since April 2021. Prior to her current role, she served as the president of the United Way of Hall County and chief administrator at Carroll Daniel Construction.

Griffin was born and raised in Gainesville.

Dubnik was elected to represent District 29 in the Georgia House of Representatives in 2016. Dubnik is running for reelection in 2022. He graduated from Lakeview Academy and has a Bachelor of Science in management with a minor in information technology from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Dubnik also serves as the chief engagement officer of Forum Communications, which he founded with his wife in 2012.

The Young Man of the Year and Young Woman of the Year Awards are presented annually by the Gainesville Jaycees to men and women who have shown a strong dedication to the community. Award winners must be younger than 40 years old to be nominated.
