The Gainesville Jaycees honored the 2020 recipients of the group's Young Man and Young Woman of the Year Awards during an in-person celebration at the Chattahoochee Country Club.
Nick Bruner was named as the Young Man of the Year, while Staci Vinton was presented as the Young Woman of the Year on Thursday, May 6.
In presenting the award to Bruner, last year's honoree Phil Bonelli said Bruner is a man who exemplifies "service over self."
"He really gives his all, not just serving on [community] boards in name only, but really digging in and contributing," Bonelli said. "He balances this with being an excellent father and husband, playing a major role at work, and doing it in such a way that he always takes time to share a joke or a smile to brighten up others."
Bruner, who moved to Gainesville from Albany in 2005, is a partner at the CPA firm Rushton & Company. He is a member of the Board of Directors for Elachee Nature Science Center and Junior Achievement of Northeast Georgia. Bruner is also a former President of the Gainesville Jaycees. He and his wife Amanda and their two children attend Gainesville First United Methodist Church.
Vinton, the founder of The Academy Child Development Center, is the 20th recipient of the Young Woman of the Year honor. A Hall County native, Vinton has education degrees from Brenau University and Piedmont College and she has been named a "Master in Teaching" by Featherbone Communiversity.
2019 Young Woman of the Year recipient Katie Dubnik described Vinton as a woman who gets things done.
"As I talked to person after person about this year’s Young Woman of the Year, a common theme immediately emerged. Our Young Woman of the Year will likely not be found leading a board meeting, receiving awards, accolades and notoriety for her work," Dubnik said. "Instead, our Young Woman of the year is a magic maker, a planner, a servant leader whose impact is woven into the fabric of our everyday lives but not necessarily imprinted on the label of the shirt.
"Most of the time, you can find our Young Woman of the year busy behind the scenes, finding ways to go above and beyond the “to-do list” and job expectations and instead finding ways to do more and do better. She is thoughtful, organized and easy to be with."
Vinton and her husband and business partner Mack have two children.
