Two people were arrested Wednesday on drug-related charges in Habersham County following a traffic stop.
According to the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office, the suspects have been identified as Andrew Nelson Dover, 45, and Alisha Gay Dover, 41, both of Clarkesville.
Deputies with the Habersham County Sheriff's Office attempted to stop the Dovers' vehicle for a traffic violation on Highway 115 in Demorest. The vehicle tried to ellude deputies and a bag was thrown out a window in the process.
The vehicle was eventually stopped after deputies used a PIT manuever. The bag thrown out the window contained three ounces of heroin, five ounces of methamphetamine, and Xanax pills.
Andrew Dover was taken to the Habersham County Hospital out of concern he ingested heroin during the traffic stop. Alisha Dover was taken to the Habersham County Detention Center.
Andrew Dover is charged with trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking heroin, possession with intent to distribute a schedule IV drug, tampering with evidence, fleeing and attempting to elude, DUI, and other traffic related offenses.
Alisha Dover is charged with trafficking methamphetamine and trafficking heroin.
The street value of the methamphetamine and heroin seized during the investigation is around $6,600.
The investigation is ongoing.
The Dovers' arrest was the culmination of a several month-long drug trafficking investigation between the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office and the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office.
