CUMMING — For one half, Lakeview Academy had No. 1-ranked and unbeaten Pinecrest Academy on the ropes.
The Lady Lions led 3-1 at halftime, but they couldn't hold it as the Lady Paladins stormed back in the second half to steal a 5-3 victory Monday night in Region 6-A Private action.
The Lady Lions (5-2, 2-1 Region 6-A Private) got first half goals from goals from Ella Grace Leek, Sarah Nivens, and Millie Filson to run out to the big lead. But Pinecrest, or rather Ivey Crain, a William and Mary signee, scored four unanswered goals in the second half.
The Lady Paladins (9-1, 2-0 Region 6-A Private) ran their win streak to eight straight while Lakeview had its three-match win streak snapped with the loss.
Lakeview next will play host to Mt Pisgah on Thursday.

Kaitlin Cook had a hat trick and added a pair of assists as well to lead the Lady Bears past the Class 7A Lady Bulldogs in non-region action in Cumming.
Amelia Dovie added 2 goals and 1 assist, Alyssa Stringer had a goal and 2 assists, and Carson DeMars had a goal for Cherokee Bluff (8-3). Kaitlyn Vasil and Sophie Recinella each had one assist for the Lady Bears.
It was the fourth straight win for Bluff, as keeper Avery Fowler and the Bluff defense has not allowed more than two goals in any contest during the win streak.
Cherokee Bluff next will play host to Class 5A Jackson County (7-3) on Friday in another non-region battle.
