Human remains were discovered early Friday morning in Gilmer County, according to the Gilmer County Sheriff's Office.
A social media post states a utility company lineman crew discovered the "suspected human remains" around 4 a.m. in a wooded area off of Hudson-Martin Road. Sheriff's deputies and detectives responded to the scene and requested help from a Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime scene tech to recover the remains.
The remains were sent to the GBI Crime Lab for further examination and identification. The Gilmer County Sheriff's Office is handling the investigation.
As of this report, there has been no update on the identity or period of time the remains were in that location.
