Tennis: NHall teams open with wins; GHS boys, Branch girls win

GAINESVILLE — The North Hall tennis teams opened their season on Tuesday with a pair of victories over Banks County at home.

The Lady Trojans took a 5-0 win while the boys won 4-1.

For the girls, Ella Kate Canaday defeated Amber Morris 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1  singles, Gabbie Jenkins beat Abbey Bonds 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2  singles, and Lilly Perry beat Carlie Butler 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.

In doubles, Kayla Miller and Callie Clark beat Kaelin Kuhn and Allaryce Appell 6-2, 6-2 and at No. 2 doubles Ali Moore and Riley Morgan beat Aydan Gaither and Nevaeh Appell.

For the boys, Jack Maddox defeated Martin Suggs 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles and Griffin Keener beat Mason Bond 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.

In doubles, Clay Martin and Austin Copper beat Sean Presley and Cooper White 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 and Stephen Sartain and Hunter Pierce defeated Lane Seahorn and Tristan Ekland 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2.

Banks County got its only win at No. 3 singles when Luke Edwards rallied to beat Nate Marshall, 3-6, 6-4, 13-11.

Both North Hall teams improve to 1-0 on the season and will  take on Gainesville at Longwood Park on Wednesday.


GAINESVILLE BOYS 4,
JOHNSON 1

The Red Elephants swept the doubles in taking a non-region victory over the Knights at Longwood Park on Tuesday.

The Gaineville doubles teams of Samuel Holt and Andrew Elliott and Jacob Nguyen and Reed Slack both took 6-0, 6-0 wins.

Phillip Mady at No. 1 Singles and Kamyaab Cornett  at No. 3 singles to wins dropping just one game each.

Johnson’s only win came at No. 2 singles with Angel Hernandez taking a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Gunner Lilly.


FLOWERY BRANCH GIRLS 4,
MOUNTAIN VIEW 1

The Lady Falcons improved to 3-1 on the season with a victory over the Class 7A Lady Bears on Tuesday at home.

Branch swept the doubles, highlighted by a tough 7-6 (7-3), 6-0 win at No. 1 By Casey Beaver and Ally Shedd. Violet Schultz and Casey Skaggs took a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2.

In singles, Katie Martin also took a tough win at No. 3, beating Lauren Yoon 6-3, 7-6 (7-3). Sandra Hernandez took a default win at No. 1 for the Lady Falcons.

Mountain View's only win came at No. 2 singles when Rachel Tomlin beat Avery Marx 6-3, 6 1.
