A Gainesville teenager accused of rape and child molestation was arrested Thursday by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.
Jason Carter Berry, 17, was charged with one count of rape and one count of child molestation. Both charges are related to an incident on Aug. 27 with the same victim. According to the sheriff’s office, Berry raped a female victim who was under the age of 16 at her home.
Berry knew the victim prior to the crime. The victim disclosed the crime to a counselor on Sept. 9, and deputies were notified.
Investigators obtained arrest warrants on Thursday and Warrant Service Unit deputies arrested him later that same day in the 100 block of Tommy Cowart Road in White County. The case is still under investigation.
