A head-on wreck in Rabun County Friday night claimed the life of one man and injured several other people.
The wreck on U.S. 441 / Ga. 15 at North Johnson Avenue in Mountain City happened about 6:30 p.m.
The Georgia State Patrol said a blue 2003 Ford Focus sedan driven by 40-year-old Gregory Scott Chamblee of Clayton was traveling north and attempted to pass vehicles in the left lane and crossed into the left southbound lane.
The front of the car collided head-on with a southbound gray 2013 Ford Explorer driven by 34-year-old Jessica Abel of Lakemont.
Chamblee’s passenger, 49-year-old Curt Lamar Talley of Tiger, died of his injuries.
Chamblee suffered injuries to the chest, head and feet and was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, GSP reported.
GSP said three passengers in Abel’s vehicle were injured as well: 15-year-old Riley Abel of Lakemont suffered colon and hip injuries; 11-year-old Audrey Abel of Lakemont complained of neck and back pain; and 25-year-old Caleb Andrew Watson of Rabun Gap complained of injuries to his head and hand but was not transported.
Others injured were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
