Baldwin dedicates Memorial Park with tribute to fallen officer

The City of Baldwin celebrated Tuesday night, first by hosting the Habersham County Christmas Parade then by dedicating Memorial Park downtown.

As part of that dedication, public safety personnel and members of the community joined the family of DeKalb County Police Officer Edgar Isidro Flores, who grew up in Baldwin, to dedicate a memorial to him in the downtown park.

Flores died in the line of duty on Dec. 13, 2018, just four days before his 25th birthday.

Flores' mother, Laura Saucedo Flores, fiancee Lizandra Mora, and brother Alexis Flores expressed their appreciation, as did his father, Isidro Flores of Baldwin. Members of the Flores family served as Grand Marshal for the parade.

DeKalb County Police Chief Mirtha Ramos, Maj. Curtis A. Williams and eight of their officers joined in the parade and dedication ceremony, as did the Georgia Department of Public Safety Honor Guard, Baldwin Police Department and others.
