Gwinnett County Schools to receive over $5 million for off-campus broadband improvements

By AccessWDUN Staff

U.S. Senator Raphael Warnock has announced Gwinnett County Public Schools will receive over $5 million in federal funding to use for improvements to off-campus broadband access for students.

According to a report from the Gwinnett Daily Post, Warnock's office reportedly worked with the Federal Communications Commission to get the funding for the school system.

The $5.3 million comes from the FCC's Emergency Connectivity Program.

The report said the funds can be used to give students and school staff laptop and tablet computers. The funds will also provide WiFi hotspots, modems, routers and other purchases related to broadband connectivity. The improvements are meant to give all students equal opportunities to learn.
