Hall County Government announces multiple leadership changes

Hall County Government announced that it has filled several vacant positions, including two Assistant County Administrator roles, a Director of Emergency Management and Homeland Security position and a Hall County Attorney position.

One of the two Assistant County Administrator roles has been vacant since July, and the other assistant role was left empty after former Assistant County Administrator Zach Propes announced he would become the County Administrator. Propes will replace the retiring Jock Connell effective March 23, 2023.

Casey Ramsey, who currently serves as Hall County’s Director of Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency, will fill one of the Assistant County Administrator roles. Katie Crumley, who currently serves as the County’s Communications and Strategic Engagement Manager, will fill the other Assistant County Administrator role.

Ramsey and Crumley will begin their new positions on Jan. 1, 2023.

In a press release, Future County Administrator Propes said that Ramsey and Crumley’s experience working with the county for several years will make them valuable assets in their new roles.

“Due to the roles they’ve served in, Casey and Katie have both been deeply involved in the implementation of Hall County’s Strategic Plan and the attainment of multiple long-range goals for the organization,” Propes said. “With more than 30 years devoted to Hall County Government between them, they will be bringing forward a wealth of knowledge, a thorough understanding of the development that has happened in Hall County thus far, and a vested interest in ensuring Hall County continues to be a strong and vibrant community.”

Zack Brackett, the EMA Operations and Special Projects Manager, will fill Ramsey’s old role as the EMA Director. However, the County will need to continue searching for Brackett’s replacement as EMA Operations and Special Projects Manager.

Additionally, Hall County Government has filled Hall County Attorney Van Stephens’ upcoming vacancy. Stephens will retire in January, and his position will be filled by current Deputy County Attorney Bill Linkous.

In a press release, local government officials said they feel confident that their succession planning will fulfill the County’s strategic plan.

“We have been intentional in hiring staff who embody the values of Hall County Government, and intentional in ensuring we invest in the development of our team,” Propes said. “These advancements have been well-earned, and I am excited to see quality service to Hall County citizens continue in the years to come.”
