A Homer man was killed in a crash on Ga. 365 in Hall County Wednesday night.
Hall County Sheriff's Office investigators said the crash happened at around 8:20 p.m. at the intersection of 365 and Lula Road. Donnie Lamar Smith, age 63 of Homer, was reportedly going southbound on 365 and trying to turn left onto Lula Road when the wreck occurred.
"In the process of making the turn, Mr. Smith stopped in front of a vehicle traveling in the right northbound lane of Cornelia Highway (Ga.365,)" a release from the sheriff's office said.
That northbound vehicle hit Smith's vehicle, with both going into the grass on the east side of 365. Both drivers were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, where Smith was ultimately pronounced dead just after 9:00 p.m.
Smith was determined to be the at-fault driver in the crash, according to the sheriff's office. The driver of the other vehicle suffered what officials called non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation as of Thursday afternoon.
