A woman from Monroe has been charged with driving under the influence of drugs after six people were injured in a two-vehicle accident in Baldwin Sunday evening.

According to a press release from Georgia State Patrol Post 7, the accident happened at about 7:20 p.m. on U.S. 441 near Industrial Boulevard.

Tiffany Renee Daniels, 37, of Monroe, was traveling northbound in the left lane on U.S. 441 in a 2009 Hyundai Sonata. Daniels had two passengers, Zora Todd, 2, and Manuel Soto, 6.

The second vehicle, a 2004 Acura TSX driven by Maria Angelica Hernandez, 23, of Alto, was traveling northbound on U.S. 441 directly in front of Daniels. The Acura had two additional passengers, Elvia Zabala, 46, and Gianna Gonzales, 2.

Daniels is accused of following the Acura too closely and eventually striking the Acura's bumper from behind. The Hyundai then rotated and struck a tree with its right side.

One of the Hyundai's passengers, Manual Soto, 6, was airlifted to Northeast Georgia Medical Center. The other five individuals were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center by ambulance. The release states the Georgia State Patrol is unaware of the status of the six patients.

Daniels was charged with driving under the influence of drugs. The crash remains under investigation.
