A Dacula man died as a result of injuries sustained in a New Year's Eve crash in Barrow County.
According to a report from the Georgia State Patrol, Jakob Riley Martin, 20, of Dacula was driving southbound on Dee Kennedy Road near Emperor Lane around 4:20 p.m. when he was hit from behind by a white 2019 Ford F-150.
Both drivers lost control of their vehicles. Martin's gray Ford Focus left the roadway and struck a tree. He was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center where he died.
The driver of the F-150, Timothy Lee Williams, 55, of Winder was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Braselton for non-life threatening injuries. Charges are pending against Williams for the crash.
Troopers are working to determine if driver impairment or speeding were a factor.
