Deadly Duluth accident declared to be intentional

An accident in Duluth that left one man dead is now being declared intentional and the driver is being charged with murder.

The accident occurred in May of this year when the driver, Wendy Sharp of Alpharetta, crashed into a tree, causing injuries to herself and her passenger. The passenger, 42-year-old Tauheed Ferguson, died last Tuesday. Three days later, Sharp, who is from Alpharetta, was arrested by the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit.

According to a release from the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office, Sharp intentionally caused the accident, swerving out of her lane and crashing into the tree on purpose to try to injure the passenger. She is now being charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving, aggravated assault, felony murder and felony theft by taking.

The accident occurred May 10 around 7:45 p.m. at the intersection of Davenport Road and Hill Drive near Duluth.

Sharp is being held without bond at the Gwinnett County Jail.
