Reward up to $50k for information in shooting death of Oconee County RaceTrac worker

The reward for information in the murder of an Oconee County RaceTrac worker is up to $50,000.

A social media post by the Oconee County Sheriff's Office states that the reward is a combination of funds from the FBI ($20,000), RaceTrac ($15,000), Oconee County Board of Commissioners ($10,000), and the Oconee Sheriff’s Reward Fund ($5,000). 

The suspect in the shooting death of Elijah Wood, 23, has not yet been identified. The suspect was captured on surveillance footage the night of Wood's death, wearing all-black clothing with a hoodie and facemask. They were also wearing black and yellow Sport Battle gloves and carried a pistol. Investigators estimate the shooter stands between 5 feet, ten inches, and six feet tall with an athletic build.

Wood was working in the store on Highway 441 on March 19 when the suspect entered the store around 1:30 a.m. and shot him. 

The Oconee County Sheriff's Office has worked with multiple agencies, including the FBI and Georgia Bureau of Investigation on the case, according to the post. As of this report, 43 persons of interest have been investigated and 12 search warrants have been served. A vehicle spotted in the area on the night of the crime is believed to be connected in some way.
