Texas man arrested in Gainesville entering auto case

A Texas man was arrested in Gainesville Monday after a homeowner witnessed the man trespassing on his property and entering his vehicle.

According to a social media post from the Gainesville Police Department, police responded to the 1400 block of Montrose Drive around noon Monday for an entering auto in-progress call.

A homeowner in the area witnessed San Juanito Rosa Jr., 27, of Mission, Texas entering his vehicle on a surveillance camera. The homeowner gave authorities the surveillance footage and a physical description of Rosa.

The post said shortly after this, officers spotted Rosa in the area and arrested him. Rosa was charged with one count of entering auto.

While the footage was shared with authorities, the homeowner used an app called Neighbors to upload the footage and warn his neighbors. Gainesville Police Department investigators were able to use the footage in the application to add to the case.

More information about Neighbors is available here.

"This was a prime example of our community working together to help make our community safer," the post reads. "Remember, if you see something, say something! Our homeowner saw something and immediately called 911. Great job!"
