One woman dead after vehicle accident in Banks County

A vehicle accident in Banks County Monday afternoon claimed the life of one woman and injured another. The two-vehicle accident on Yonah Homer Road and Greasy Street involved a pickup truck and a large utility truck.

When Banks County Fire and Emergency Services arrived around 4:20 p.m., two women were trapped in the pick-up truck and had to be rescued from the vehicle by emergency crews.

The driver, a woman in her 60’s, was pronounced dead on the scene. A passenger, a woman in her 40’s, was transported by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in serious condition.

According to a report from the Banks County Fire and EMS, no other injuries were reported and the cause of the accident is under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol and Banks County Coroner’s Office.
