Construction is continuing at the Braselton Civic Center, the Town of Braselton’s latest downtown project, ahead of its scheduled October 2021 opening.
Nikki Perry, tourism director for the Braselton Visitors Bureau Authority, said the Civic Center is intended to be used for true community events.
“Because events are so popular, and Braselton is such a perfect location, the council and the town really felt like we needed another venue for community events, for birthday parties and family reunions,” Perry said.
The Braselton area has several other venues, such as Road Atlanta, Chateau Elan, The Venue at Friendship Springs and the Braselton Event Center downtown.
The Civic Center will be located on Davis Street between the existing parking deck and the Braselton Brewing Co.
The facility will have an auditorium that can seat up to 504 guests and can serve a variety of different functions.
“That auditorium can be divided up into three separate rooms, so it would be good for a small convention with break-out rooms, it can be set up in a banquet style or with a stage at the front of the room for presentations,” Perry said.
When it comes to the exterior of the building, Perry said it was designed with the classic Braselton aesthetic in mind.
“It’s going to be a really nice facility that fits in with the character of downtown and the upscale character of downtown,” Perry said.
The $6.3 million needed for the project was funded by Jackson County SPLOST and Braselton Urban Redevelopment Agency Bonds.
While the Civic Center will not be operational for a few more months, Braselton had already planned for its opening years in advance with the downtown parking deck.
“The parking deck was built back in 2018 with the civic center in mind so that we would have a place to park people for events,” Perry said.
