Soccer: Lakeview teams advance to Class A Private playoffs

ATLANTA — Both Lakeview Academy soccer teams qualified for the upcoming state tournament with big road wins on Thursday against The Weber School.

The boys advanced to their first postseason since 2017 with a 6-1 win while the Lady Lions advanced to their sixth straight postseason with a 9-0 victory.

Both teams will carry the No. 3 seed from Region 6-A Private into the Class A Private playoffs next week

In the boys match, Whit Coyle had two goals and two assists to lead an offense that outshot the Rams 34-5 for the game. Lakeview (5-8-3) opened strong, jumping out to a 5-0 halftime lead and cruised in the second half.

Sam Perrott had a goal and an assist and Declan Weidner had one goal assisted by Arshaq Ali.  Bodie Blackwell and Liam Weidner also had goals for Lakeview. 

Dylan Mulka recorded the win in goal.

The Lakeview boys finished the regular season 4-1-1 in their last six matches.

For the girls, McKenna Filson recorded a hat trick to pace the offense. Lauren Scott, Hannah Perkins, Millie Filson, Ella Grace Leek, Virginia Cobb, and Halle Galyean all had goals for the Lady Lions (10-5).
