Soccer roundup: Lady Bears hold off GHS; Lakeview, Dawson tie

GAINESVILLE — Four different players scored as the Cherokee Bluff girls knocked off Gainesville 4-1 on Tuesday at City Park Stadium.

Amelia Dovie, Kaitlin Cook, Carson DeMars, and Paige Wheat all tallied a goal for the Lady Bears (9-3-1).

Dovie and Anna Gessner each had two assists for Cherokee Bluff.

The Lady Bears will be off until April 13 when they close out the regular season at home against North Hall in a huge game that could decide the Region 7-3A title.

Gainesville (4-9) will try end its nine-match losing streak on Friday at home against Osborne.

The Lions and Tigers played to a draw in Dawsonville.

The game was a scoreless tie at halftime. Lakeview (3-7-3) took the initial 1-0 lead midway through the second half on a Whit Coyle goal from 30 yards out off a feed from Diego Bulos.

Dawson County tied it up late in the second half.

Lakeview's Lewis Coyle recorded 9 saves in goal.

The Lions next will travel to Mount Pisgah on Thursday in a Region 6-A Private matchup.
