Girls tennis: Gainesville knocks off North Forsyth; Buford, Johnson win

COAL MOUNTAIN — The Gainesville girls rolled past North Forsyth, 4-1, in Region 6-7A play on the road Thursday.

The Red Elephants swept the singles play with Hannah Williams (No. 1), Callie Patterson (No. 2) and Lilly Winston (No. 3) all posting wins.

Kate Abernathy and Grace Nguyen captured the No. 2 doubles match. GHS won their Region match against North Forsyth High School 4-1.  

Gainesville will be back in action on March 24 against Flowery Branch at Longwood Park.

LOGANVILLE 0

The Lady Knights completed the clean sweep of Loganville on Thursday at home. 

Zoey Blankenship, No. 2 singles, pulled off the tiebreak 11-9 to win her match and help the Johnson to the shutout. In the other singles matches, No. 1 Olivia Carpenter won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, and No. 3 Lu Bagwell also won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. 

In doubles action, Melia Glover and Sophia Chica rolled over their opponents, 6-0, 6-1, and Alejandra Gamez and Jadira Martinez pulled off the first set 6-4 and slammed the second set, 6-0, to win the match.

CHEROKEE BLUFF 0

The Lady Wolves shrugged off the windy conditions and roared past Cherokee Bluff on Thursday at home. 

Taylor Aycock, Callie Perkins and Berkley Clark all won in straight sets in singles action, while Kennedy Deloach and Kylie McCammon earned the straight-set win in No. 1 doubles, and Taylor Ryczek and Sophie Brewer held Bluff scoreless in both sets to captured the No. 2 doubles match.
