Several students within the Hall County School District were recognized as finalists in the 2021 Young Georgia Authors Writing Competition.
The Young Georgia Authors competition, sponsored by the Georgia Council of Teachers of English in cooperation with the Georgia Department of Education, is a writing competition open to any student enrolled in Georgia public schools in grades K-12. The purpose of the contest is to encourage students to develop enthusiasm for writing and to recognize student achievement in arts and academics, per a release from the Hall County School District.
Competition entries must fit within a 1900-word limit, but students are not given a prompt or other guidelines to adhere to when writing. Entries may include short stories, poetry, essays/literary criticism/analysis, journalism, academic research reports, personal narratives or other original student writing.
