By AccessWDUN staff

A Clermont man was killed in a pre-dawn traffic accident Wednesday on Lula Road.

The Georgia State Patrol identified the victim as Kennith Standridge, the driver of a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox.

The trooper who investigated the crash said Standridge was traveling eastbound on Lula Road and tried to pass another vehicle in a curve near Julian Wiley Road. As Standridge crossed into the westbound lane, he met a flatbed truck traveling in the opposite direction. Standridge attempted to steer back into the eastbound lane, but the front corner of the truck struck the left side of the SUV.

The trooper said Standridge's vehicle overturned as it traveled off the north shoulder of the road and down an embankment; he was ejected from his vehicle.

The two occupants of the truck were not injured. The driver of the vehicle that Standridge was trying to pass also was uninjured even though her vehicle was hit by debris from the crash.

No charges will be filed in the accident, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

The fatal accident was reported at 6:10 a.m. Lula Road was closed for several hours as authorities conducted their investigation.
