Four additional lawsuits have been filed in Gwinnett County State Court against Messer Gas LLC, the company responsible for the liquid nitrogen system at Foundation Food Group.
According to Gwinnett County State Court records, the four suits were filed on Feb. 28, and all name Messer Gas LLC and a Messer Gas employee as defendants. This comes after two wrongful death lawsuits were filed in Gwinnett County State Court against Messer Gas last week.
Of the four new lawsuits, one wrongful death lawsuit was filed on behalf of Veronica Vellez, the surviving spouse of Victor Vellez, who was one of six Foundation Food Group employees who died following a nitrogen leak at the poultry plant on Jan. 28.
Vellez is represented by Matthew E. Cook, Kate S. Cook, Robert H. Childres III and Nathan R. Nicholson of Cook Law Group, LLC. in Gainesville. Vellez is also represented by Jeffery C. Talley of the Law Offices of Jeffery C. Talley in Gainesville.
A second wrongful death lawsuit was filed on behalf of Maria Piedad Cabrera Galicia, the surviving parent of Jose De Jesus Elias Cabrera, who also died in the incident.
Galicia is represented by Jeff P. Shiver, Alan J. Hamilton and R. Scott Campbell of Shiver Hamilton, LLC in Atlanta, and Seth A. Bader of Bader Scott Injury Lawyers in Atlanta.

Lastly, a tort case was filed on behalf of 21 individuals in Gwinnett County State Court. The individuals are represented by Kenneth Brosnahan and Linda Carpenter of Brosnahan Law Firm in Atlanta. The suit seeks damages on behalf of the 21 plaintiffs.
