Gainesville businessman James Simpson dies at 77, truck parade to be held in his honor

Gainesville businessman James Simpson, the force behind Simpson Trucking & Grading, Inc. in Gainesville, will be remembered in a funeral service Friday, Dec. 17 at Hopewell Baptist Church.
 
Simpson died Monday, Dec. 13 following a two-year battle with cancer. He was 77. 
 
Prior to the funeral, local truckers will participate in a parade of trucks - large and small -  in the area near Simpson Farm on Candler Highway and Roy Pakrs Road. 
 
Simpson opened his business in 1984, expanding it over the last 37 years to one of the largest full-service trucking and grading companies in the region. His obituary said Simpson "loved life to the fullest."
 
"He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all his heart. He loved to move dirt, bailing hay, his cows, antique cars and trucks. Mr. Simpson was a very GENEROUS person and a child of God."
 
Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
