Spherion Staffing and Recruiting’s office in Gainesville will welcome new ownership.
That was announced on Monday, and on Thursday AccessWDUN got the chance to catch up with Darin and Gina Workman, who are stepping in for Stacey Reece.
According to a press release, Reece, a local entrepreneur, stepped down after roughly 30 years.
“We want to bring to this area, this community, opportunity for clients to be able to find their passion in what that role would be,” Gina said.
The release went on to mention that Darin and Gina are both veterans, and they will look to focus on veteran outreach. They both echoed a similar sentiment when speaking to AccessWDUN.
“We are in the process of being certified through the SBA as a veteran owned organization,” Darin said. “We are going to use our VA status to be able to help veterans in Gainesville.”
Darin said hiring veterans is a ”priority” for them. Gina added on to that.
“Coming from active to out in the civilian sector there’s a transition, and we want to be part of that,” Gina said.
As far as trends in their coverage area, which includes Gainesville to Athens and out to Toccoa, Darin said there is a drop in need for a specific type of employee.
“There has definitely been a drop in need for the short-term employee,” Darin said. “The technical fields are increasing in need as Hall County continues to grow with the Port Authority building the inland port.”
Darin also said that historically they are tailored more towards light-industrial and manufacturing type positions. Under their leadership, they want to expand to more hospitality and retail sector jobs as well as executive-level jobs and leadership positions.
“We are committed to providing a quality candidate,” Gina said. “It’s about ensuring that we get the right candidates for the right industry and then it’s a win-win on both sides.”
Darin said the way they hire people is the “HIS” philosophy.
“HIS stands for honesty, integrity, and service,” Darin said. “If we treat people and do things with honor, seal it with integrity, and base it around service, then we’re going to be doing the right things for the community.”
Spherion is a national recruiting and staffing company that has been matching people to jobs for over 75 years according to their website. They have five locations in Georgia spread out in Atlanta, Augusta, Macon, Columbus, and Gainesville.
