Motorcyclist killed in weekend crash in Stephens County

A South Carolina motorcyclist was killed in a weekend traffic accident in Stephens County.

Troopers from Georgia State Patrol Post 7 responded to the accident at 3:41 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27 on Georgia 17 at Whispering Pines.

The motorcycle operator, identified as William  Pate, 49, of Seneca, South Carolina, failed to maintain his lane and traveled off the roadway onto the right-hand shoulder, striking a raised curb. Troopers who investigated the accident said Pate was thrown from his motorcycle and was killed. 

The accident was one of 20 fatality crashes reported by the Georgia State Patrol over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
