A home in Mount Airy was damaged in a fire Friday evening, according to a release from Habersham County Emergency Services.

Habersham County 911 first received a call about the fire at 154 Evergreen Trail at 7:53 p.m. When crews from HCES and the Demorest Fire Department arrived at the home, they noticed smoke and fire showing from within.

Crews then entered the home and were able to knock down the fire, which was present in two bedrooms, the living area and a portion of the kitchen. Smoke damage was also present throughout other areas of the structure.

The occupants of the home were able to get out without injury prior to the arrival of fire crews. The American Red Cross was notified to help the occupants with clothing and accommodations due to the extent of the damage.
