BUFORD — Buford racked up 291 yards rushing and held Clarke Central to just 117 total yards in taking a shocking 47-0 win over the Gladiators Friday night at Tom Riden Stadium.
It was billed as a revenge game for the Wolves, who suffered their only loss in 2019 to the Gladiators.
But a rebuilding Clarke Central team was no match for the Wolves. The revenge came early and often for Buford.
It took just over two minutes for Buford to strike as Jake Pope caught a 40-yard TD pass for a 6-0 lead. Victor Venn later added a 4-yard touchdown for a 12-0 lead by the end of the first quarter.
Venn added a 32-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter and Pope added his second TD catch of the half from 4-yards to push the lead to 26-0 by halftime.
Dylan Wittke scored on a 13-yard TD run early in the third quarter and Gabe Irvin added a 6-yard scoring run to push the lead 40-0. CJ Clinkscales capped the scoring with a 4-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.
Clinkscales led the Wolves with 77 yards rushing while Irvin had 71 and Venn 63 for the game.
Wittke finished 4-of-7 passing for 97 yards with a TD and an INT. Ashton Daniels threw for 63 yards and a touchdown. Jarvis Evans had 18 yards passing as all three Buford quarterbacks saw action.
