GAINESVILLE — Paulding County spoiled North Hall's opener with a 24-7 win over the Trojans at The Brickyard Saturday afternoon.
The game had been moved one day from Frdiay to accommodate Paulding County, who had been forced into quaratine and was eligible to play on Saturday.
The Patriots used a 21-point second quarter to blow open a scoreless game behind quarterback Brayden Mauldin, who threw three touchdown passes in the period. Mauldin connected on TD passes of 25, 48, and 16 yards in just over a six minute span. He finished with 243 yards passing as Paulding County piled 366 yards of offense for the game.
The Trojans only score came on a 68-yard touchdown run by Clark Howell late in the third period. They could get no closer.
North Hall was held to just 172 yards rushing and 189 total yards for the game. Howell finished with 121 yards on the ground on 16 carries.
The Tojans next will travel to Stephens County, which lost to White County in ts opener, next Friday.
