Dawson County: Charges filed in July 3 baby death

By AccessWDUN Staff

More than a month after the discovery of a baby's body in a wooded area of Dawson County, investigators have filed charges in the death.

Dawson County Sheriff Jeff Johnson confirmed charges had been filed against a female juvenile.

"The unnamed juvenile has been charged with 1-count of Concealing the Death of another Person and 1-count of Reckless Conduct," Johnson wrote in an email statement.

Johnson also said information in the case is restricted while the investigation continues.

The baby's body was found by a homeowner on Thompson Road on July 3; the body was located in a wooded area behind the home. At the time, investigators did not reveal the gender of the baby, saying only they believed the infant to be between one and two weeks old. The manner of death for the baby has also been withheld.
