Camper tests positive for COVID-19 at Forsyth Co. summer camp

A camper at one of the Sawnee Mountain Preserve summer camps near Cumming has tested positive for COVID-19.

A social media post from the Forsyth County Government on Tuesday states that the camper was asymptomatic and being tested as a prerequisite for a camp they planned to attend next week. The post also states that all involved campers and staff have been notified.

The post said that Forsyth County Government is working with Public Health concerning contract tracing, additional testing and self-quarantining that may be necessary.

The Forsyth County Fire Department has since disinfected the camp facility using a hospital grade disinfectant known as AeroClave. Forsyth County Government said they are following State and County guidelines and will continue to monitor the situation.
