FAA investigating aircraft crash at White County airfield

An ultralight, personal aircraft crashed in the area of Mountain Airpark at Runway Circle and Airport Road east of Cleveland Friday night.

The Sport Flight Aviation Talon XP “departed, lost power and crashed,” according to preliminary information from the Federal Aviation Administration.

It is not known if the operator was injured, according to the FAA report.

In addition to White County Public Safety personnel, the Georgia State Patrol responded to the 7:37 p.m. incident.

“A unit from GSP Gainesville did respond to the scene, but we did not conduct an investigation,” said Sgt. C.E. Parker of Post 6. “The scene was maintained until the FAA/NTSB instructed us to secure the scene for them. The site was cordoned off on Friday evening and turned over to the FAA.”
