The Hall County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a man whose body was found behind a restaurant on Browns Bridge Road early Wednesday morning.
Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derreck Booth said deputies responded to a call near the intersection of Browns Bridge Road and Pearl Nix Parkway around 4:30 a.m. where they found Gainesville police officers already on the scene.
"[They] had located the unresponsive 31-year-old man on the ground," Booth said. "Hall County Fire Services was also on the scene, but resuscitation efforts by Fire Services were unsuccessful."
Booth said a male acquaintance of the deceased man was the person who called 911.
"We believe he possibly was homeless, but his status is still under investigation at this time," Booth said.
While the investigation is ongoing, Hall County Sheriff’s Office detectives do not believe foul play is involved. The man's body has been transported to a medical examiner for autopsy. Booth said the identity of the man is being withheld until family members can be notified.
