Hall County Sheriff’s Office taking “common-sense approach” to shelter in place orders

By Lauren Hunter Multimedia Journalist

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office announced in a social media post that they will be taking a common-sense approach when it comes to enforcing recent shelter in place orders.

The post states that deputies will not pull over vehicles or stop individuals with the intention to ask where they are going and why. Instead, if deputies see individuals violating the order, they may politely ask them to stop for their own safety and the safety of others.

The post reads, “We ask that you use common sense in your daily activities to slow the spread of the virus, and we’ll do the same. The men and women of the Sheriff’s Office will continue to prioritize education over citation during the stay at home order.”

The Hall County Commission issued a shelter in place order yesterday afternoon. Governor Brian Kemp issued one for the entire state of Georgia shortly after. While Governor Kemp has yet to give full details on the state order, the Hall County resolution can be found here.
