By AccessWDUN Staff

After a process that lasted more than a year, the congregation of First Baptist Church of Gainesville has approved the appointment of a new senior pastor. Rev. Jeremy Shoulta is expected to assume his full-time ministerial duties at the church on Green Street on April 19, 2020.

Shoulta, the current senior pastor at First Baptist Church of Black Mountain, North Carolina, preached in view of a call on Sunday, March 29, although his sermon was conducted online because of the current coronavirus pandemic. Congregants voted online to approve the appointment by "an overwhelming majority," according to a statement issued to the congregation from the pastor search team.

According to a resume on the First Baptist Church of Gainesville website, Rev. Shoulta is a graduate of Georgetown College and Baptist Seminary of Kentucky. He is pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree from Gardner-Webb University.

Shoulta and his wife Valarie have two young daughters.
