Soccer: GHS-Lanier highlight Thursday schedule

The Gainesville boys, still ranked fifth in Class 6A by eurosportscoreboard.com, face an almost must-win match Thursday at City Park Stadium against Lanier. They currently sit tied for fourth in the region standings.

Meanwhile, the Lady Red Elephants, ranked sixth, are unbeaten but need a win to keep pace with Habersham Central, who also is unbeaten in region play.

Those two matches highlight a light schedule around northeast Georgia.

Here is the schedule of northeast Georgia prep soccer teams for March 12 through March 14, weather permitting:

Girls playoff basketball: Offense goes cold; North Hall falls in semifinals
