DAHLONEGA — In a battle of ranked teams, the Class A-Private No. 3-ranked Lakeview Academy girls and Class 3A's seventh-ranked Lumpkin County played to a 4-4 draw Monday night to kick off the Lumpkin County tournament.
Lakeview (0-1-1) struck first as Lauren Scott scored on a one-on-one with an assist from Sara Nivens. Lumpkin County answered with a pair of goals before the half to take a 2-1 lead into the intermission.
Nivens then struck twice in the second half with assists from Millie Filson and Ellie Kate Madonna. Millie later scored on a header off a Hannah Perkins corner kick to give the Lady Lions a 4-3 lead. But they couldn't hold it.
Lumpkin County (2-1-1) scored with two minutes left to tie the match at 4 and it ended that way.
Lakeview is back in action on Wednesday at White County in Round 2 of the tournament. Lumpkin will play at home against Habersham Central.
