White County wreck seriously injures 5, including two children

Five people, including two children, were seriously injured in a wreck north of Cleveland Sunday afternoon.

A 1997 Toyota RAV4 driven by Samantha Wade, 26, of Cleveland, was traveling south on Ga. 11/U.S. 129 and crossed the centerline of the road, striking a northbound 2011 Ford Edge head-on, said Sgt. 1st Class Auston Allen of Georgia State Patrol Post 6 in Gainesville..

Wade was seriously injured and was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Wade’s passengers, 29-year-old Casie Sidel and 4-year-old Shiloh Hernandez, both of Cleveland, were seriously injured, Allen said. A third passenger, 6-year-old Serenity Butler suffered critical injuries. Hernandez and Butler were airlifted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, while Sidel was taken to Habersham Medical Center.

The other driver, Gerrit Moot, 50, of Blairsville, also suffered serious injuries and was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Allen said.

Drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be a factor in the collision, Allen said.

Charges are pending against Wade.

The wreck happened about 2:20 p.m. on Ga. 11/U.S. 129 south of Brett Road, about three miles north of the square in Cleveland.
