Turnovers doom Banks County in loss to Rebels

By AccessWDUN Staff

BLUE RIDGE — Banks County threw six interceptions, three of which were returned for touchdowns, as Fannin County used a huge third quarter to pull away for a 49-13 win over the Leopards on Friday.

The Leopards (1-4) actually jumped out to a 6-0 lead early on a 29-yard double pass for a touchdown from Cooper Smith to Caine Griffith to Lucas Marlow on a 4th-and-12 call. The Rebels answered with a pair of second quarter touchdowns to take a 14-6 lead into the intermission.

The third quarter was a disaster for the Leopards. The Rebels picked off three passes, all returned for touchdowns, and scored 35 points in the period to blow the game open. Banks County never recovered.

The Leopards got a late score in the fourth quarter.
